The Estevan Community Wellness Committee’s monthly Games Night is continuing to grow as a welcoming space for residents of all ages to connect, according to committee member Matthew Walliser, who also represented Souris Family Pharmacy, the event’s snack sponsor.

Held every third Tuesday of the month from 6–8 p.m. at the Estevan Market Mall, Games Night has become a simple but meaningful way for people to meet new faces, enjoy friendly competition, and unwind. “It’s a good place to connect, especially for a lot of people who maybe don’t have other ways of connecting with the community,” Walliser said. “The whole goal is to get people in touch with others, maybe make a friend or two, and enjoy a night of games together.”

Attendance varies depending on weather and other happenings in the community, but Walliser said Games Night has seen anywhere from 20 to 25 participants, representing a wide mix of ages and backgrounds. “There are people who come for relaxed, visiting-type games where you don’t have to be so focused,” he explained. “And then there are others who are very into more complicated board games. It’s a wide variety, some are casual, some are more complex, and there’s everything in between.”

Souris Family Pharmacy also adds to the fun by supplying snacks each month. Walliser laughed as he gave the pharmacy a well-earned plug: “We bring chips, popcorn, some drinks, just something to enjoy and munch on while everybody’s playing.”

While playful rivalries sometimes emerge, especially among families or competitive groups, Walliser said the event remains friendly, inclusive, and open to everyone. “We’d love to see as many people come out as possible. The more the merrier,” he said. “If it’s something that interests you but you’re not sure how to join in, you can always approach a committee member or bring a friend. It’s a welcoming place for everybody.”

The next Games Night will take place on the third Tuesday of the upcoming month at the Market Mall.
