Estevan, SK – Being part of Estevan isn’t just about where you live — it’s about belonging. And Community involvement is more than just volunteering time — it’s about building connections, strengthening neighborhoods, and shaping a better future together. The Estevan Community Wellness Committee is encouraging residents to get involved, meet new people, and help make our community an even better place for everyone.
“When people come together — whether through local events, volunteer groups, or simply supporting community initiatives — they create a stronger, more connected city,” said Shelly Veroba, Co-Chair of the Estevan Community Wellness Committee. “Community involvement helps us stay safe, grow trust, share ideas, and build the kind of place we’re happy to call home.”
“When people take the time to get involved through volunteering, joining a local group, or simply showing up to community events — amazing things happen,” said Heidi Hesselink, Co-Chair of the Estevan Community Wellness Committee “It builds friendships, strengthens neighborhoods, and creates a sense of pride in where we live.”
Getting involved doesn’t have to be a big commitment. It can be as simple as:
- Attending events and open houses
- Sharing positive news about the community or events on your social media and with your neighbours.
- Supporting Estevan’s local fundraisers, businesses or initiatives
- Checking in on a neighbor
- Volunteering for a local event or program
- Joining a committee, board or club
Community engagement is the foundation of a vibrant, thriving city where residents don’t just live, but truly belong. When everyone pitches in a little, it adds up to a community that’s welcoming, connected, and full of life – small acts of participation can lead to big changes.
“Community spirit grows when people show up for each other,” added Veroba. “You don’t need special skills — just a willingness to be part of something bigger. Together, we can make a real difference.”
Residents are encouraged to follow the Estevan Community Wellness Facebook page for more details on how to get involved. https://www.facebook.com/estevancommunitywellness
